Event Cancellation Statement
Humber Bridge Half Marathon and Family Fun Run 2021
The Rotary Club of Hull, as the principal organisers of the Humber Bridge Half Marathon and Fun Run, have today announced that the event for 2021 has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic.
While the event is 4 months away, and things are thankfully improving across the country, unfortunately we have had to make this difficult decision for the second year. The Humber Bridge Board are unable to permit the use of the Bridge or its wider estate for large scale events for 2021 due to the Humber Bridge area currently being a COVID19 testing site.
Anyone who knows our event, will understand that the bridge, and the surrounding area is a large part of the event and we cannot go ahead without this permission, and we support their position.
This will obviously be disappointing for those runners who have hoping to take part in 2021, and we are hoping that we will be able to offer a virtual alternative – details on this will follow.
We’d like to thank our event partners MADL, The HEY Smile Foundation, Humber Bridge Board, LKR Events and all the other companies who support this event. Also, our thanks go to the communities of Hessle and Barton-upon-Humber and the volunteers who have supported the event over the years.
The Club hopes you understand why the Humber Bridge Board have made this decision.
